Grow your own mushroom questions
How do you ship?
We ship free anywhere in the continental US using USPS. Orders ship the following business day after being placed, a tracking confirmation will be sent to your email.
How long can I wait before I start growing my mushrooms after I bought my kit?
You can wait 2-3 weeks, we recommend storing your unopened kit in a refrigerator or any cold storage that is above freezing.
Is there any harm in growing my mushrooms indoors?
No, not at all! Growing mushrooms indoors is safe, their spores will not spread in your home or negatively affect your environment.
How often should I water?
Make sure to spray your mushrooms with water at least once every day while growing your kit. It's almost impossible to over water mushrooms.
I am seeing white fuzz, what is that?
That’s mycelium, not mold! Mycelium is the root structure of mushrooms and your kit may be getting extra fuzzy, that’s a good sign - it means its vigorous and happy.

Made by us every step of the way.

Family run
Sugarshack Mushrooms is a family-run organic mushroom farm in New Paltz, New York, in the Hudson Valley. Since 2018, we’ve been growing a wide variety of nutrient-dense gourmet mushrooms, selected for both their culinary qualities and their health benefits.

Responsible farming
Every part of our process is done by hand, from harvest to bottling. We are committed to farming with a low impact on the land, producing potent and nutrient-dense products, and helping to expand awareness of the enjoyment and benefits that mushrooms offer.

Powered by the sun
Powered by the solar panels covering the barn and farmhouse, the same sun that drives the forest ecosystems is now what powers our grow rooms, processing, and production. Thanks to a farm sustainability grant from our county (Ulster County Agricultural Farm Grants Program), our farm now operates entirely on solar power.
